Black Forge Burger Mac Skillet

BLACK FORGE NO. 4 RECIPE

Black Forge Burger Mac Skillet

This is cozy, cheesy, one-pan comfort food with a bold steakhouse twist. Think homemade burger mac from the family dinner table, but richer, smokier, and a little more grown-up. Black Forge No. 4 brings deep savory flavor to the beef, pasta, and creamy cheese sauce, making this an easy weeknight dinner that still feels hearty and homemade.

Ingredients

Burger Mac Skillet

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons Black Forge No. 4
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni or small pasta
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or cream cheese, optional for extra creaminess

Optional Toppings

  • Extra shredded cheddar
  • Chopped pickles
  • Green onions
  • Crushed crackers or buttered breadcrumbs
  • A tiny extra pinch of Black Forge No. 4

Directions

  1. In a large skillet or deep sauté pan, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  2. Drain excess grease if needed.
  3. Add diced onion and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until softened.
  4. Stir in garlic and Black Forge No. 4, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add beef broth, milk, elbow macaroni, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce.
  6. Stir well, then bring to a gentle simmer.
  7. Cover and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring often, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has absorbed.
  8. Reduce heat to low and stir in shredded cheddar cheese.
  9. Add sour cream or cream cheese if using, then stir until creamy and smooth.
  10. Taste and adjust with a tiny extra pinch of Black Forge No. 4 if desired.
  11. Let sit for 2 to 3 minutes before serving so the sauce thickens slightly.
  12. Top with extra cheese, green onions, chopped pickles, or buttered crumbs if desired.

Salt Spring Tip

Stir the pasta often while it cooks so it stays creamy and does not stick to the bottom of the skillet. Add Black Forge No. 4 early with the beef so the steakhouse flavor warms into the whole dish instead of sitting only on top.

Serve With

Serve with green beans, buttered corn, a simple salad, roasted broccoli, dinner rolls, or pickles on the side for a cozy family dinner that feels familiar, filling, and easy.
