Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Canal Side No. 1
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons chicken broth, seafood stock, or water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Optional: extra lemon wedges for serving
  • Optional: cooked pasta, rice, crusty bread, or roasted vegetables for serving

Recipe Details

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 8 minutes
Total Time: 18 minutes
Servings: 4
Best For: Seafood, Pasta, Rice Bowls, Quick Dinners

Directions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with a paper towel. This helps them sear instead of steam.
  2. Sprinkle the shrimp with Canal Side No. 1 and toss gently until coated.
  3. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side, just until pink and lightly golden. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  6. Add lemon juice, lemon zest, and chicken broth or seafood stock. Stir, scraping up the buttery seasoned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  7. Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss everything together for another 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  8. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm with lemon wedges.

Salt Spring Tip

Do not overcook the shrimp. Once they turn pink and curl into a loose “C” shape, they are ready. If they curl tightly into an “O,” they have gone too far.

Serve With

  • Angel hair pasta
  • Garlic bread
  • White rice
  • Roasted asparagus
  • Buttered noodles
  • A simple side salad
  • Crispy roasted potatoes
  • Grilled zucchini or summer squash

Make It a Meal

For a cozy dinner, serve the shrimp over pasta with an extra spoonful of the lemon herb butter from the skillet.

For a lighter option, spoon it over rice or roasted vegetables with a squeeze of fresh lemon.

Flavor Notes

This skillet is buttery, garlicky, lemony, and herb-forward. Canal Side No. 1 adds a savory garden-herb flavor with a little warmth from red pepper flakes and a clean Syracuse salt finish.

The lemon brightens the shrimp, the butter makes the sauce rich, and the herbs give it that classic homemade flavor that works beautifully with seafood.
