Salt Spring Spice started the way a lot of good things do — in a busy kitchen, around a family table, with someone trying to make dinner feel a little more special.
I’m a mom, a home cook, and someone who believes food does not have to be complicated to feel memorable. Some nights dinner is homemade from scratch. Some nights it is whatever can be pulled together before everyone starts asking what’s for dinner. Either way, I believe flavor can make an ordinary meal feel like home.
Why I Started Salt Spring Spice
I have always loved the way food holds onto memories. The smell of something roasting in the oven. A pot bubbling on the stove. A sandwich that tastes better than it has any right to. A casserole that somehow fixes the mood of the whole room.
Salt Spring Spice grew from that love — the kind of cooking that is cozy, practical, family-friendly, and full of heart. I wanted to create blends that made everyday meals easier, but still tasted like someone cared. The kind of seasoning you reach for when you want chicken to feel less boring, potatoes to taste like they belong at the center of the table, or a simple weeknight dinner to feel a little more like a Sunday meal.

Inspired By Salt City
Salt Spring Spice is also rooted in local pride. Syracuse was built on salt, and that history felt too meaningful not to carry forward in some small way. The Heritage Collection is inspired by that Salt City story — the salt springs, the canal-era spirit, the old industrial grit, and the kind of hardworking flavor that belongs in real kitchens.
I wanted these blends to feel connected to where they came from, but still useful for where they are going: family dinners, backyard cookouts, cozy Sunday meals, quick lunches, holiday tables, and all the little meals in between.
