The Story Behind Salt Spring Spice
A small-batch seasoning brand built from home, rooted in local history, family meals, and the belief that everyday food can still feel meaningful.
Salt Spring Spice started with the things that matter most to me: being a mom, cooking for my family, making everyday meals feel special, and finding beauty in the history and flavor of the place we call home.
Food has always been more than just something to get on the table. It is comfort after a long day, creativity when dinner feels boring, memories passed down through familiar flavors, and one of the simplest ways to bring people together. That feeling is at the heart of Salt Spring Spice.
Built From A Real Kitchen
This brand was not created in some faraway test kitchen. It grew from real life — family dinners, busy days, picky eaters, weeknight meals, cozy comfort food, and the kind of cooking that has to be useful, flavorful, and worth reaching for again.
I wanted these blends to feel like something people would actually use. Not something that sits on a shelf because it looks nice, but something that helps make chicken better, potatoes warmer, burgers bolder, pasta cozier, and simple meals feel a little more cared for.
Small-batch flavor made for real kitchens, shared tables, and everyday meals with meaning.
Inspired By Salt City Roots
Salt Spring Spice is also shaped by my love of local history. The Salt City story, the old salt springs, the Erie Canal roots, the grit of the region, and the pride of building something from where you are — all of that became part of the brand.
I wanted Salt Spring Spice to feel connected to place. The name, the labels, the blend stories, the black and gold heritage look, and the focus on regional ingredients all come from wanting this brand to carry a little piece of local pride into everyday kitchens.
Seasoning With A Story
Every blend in the Heritage Collection was created with a purpose. Canal Side No. 1 brings garlic-herb comfort to the meals people make all the time. Iron Pier No. 2 brings smoky maple warmth for grilling, sandwiches, potatoes, and bold dinners. Spring House No. 3 adds bright herb-and-citrus flavor to chicken and cozy meals. Black Forge No. 4 brings steakhouse depth, smoky character, and a dramatic finish.
Together, they are meant to feel like a collection — different flavors, different moods, but all connected by the same idea: thoughtful seasoning made with care, history, and real kitchen usefulness.
Why It Matters
Salt Spring Spice is still growing, but the heart behind it is steady. I want this brand to represent food that feels warm, local, creative, and useful. I want it to feel like something made by someone who cares about what goes on the table and the story behind it.
When someone buys a jar, shares a post, leaves a review, gives a blend as a gift, or cooks a meal with it, that means something. It helps keep this small-batch dream moving and keeps the community around it alive.
Salt Spring Spice is built from home, inspired by history, and made for the meals people actually cook. And honestly, that is exactly what I hoped it would be.
